Flamingos appear to create pink hearts in the run-up to Valentine’s Day.
The flamboyance – the group name for the flocks – are a stalwart of the Wiltshire Safari Park where their pink colour shines even in the gloomy winter weather and the heart shape was captured by photographer Tom Anders.
The colour comes from their diet as they eat algae, shrimp and crustaceans which contain a red-orange pigment which turns their feathers, legs and beaks pink.
