Planning your visit to Longleat? Here's everything you need to know. From accessibility and family-friendly facilities to House Tours, Safari tips, and what to bring (or leave behind) for a smooth and memorable day out.
Family and accessibility information
- All children (under the age of 16) visiting Longleat must be accompanied by a responsible adult (aged 18 or over), with a valid ticket or annual/season pass, at all times.
- An enclosed baby feeding room is available adjacent to Little Explorer's Garden, with bottle warming facilities. The closest water supply is in the accessible WC on the reverse side of this same building.
- A bottle warming and baby food prep area is available in The Chameleon Tree Restaurant.
- Baby changing facilities are available in multiple toilets across the park, download the Park Map for full details.
- We have a limited number of pushchairs available to hire from Guest Services. Single push chairs can be hired for £10 and double push chairs for £15.
- Longleat House, the Boat Safari, Longleat Railway and the Hedge Maze are not accessible to pushchairs. Pushchairs can be left at the relevant pushchair park for the duration of your visit to that attraction.
- Accessible toilets are provided in a range of locations throughout the park. Changing facilities with an adjustable changing bench and hoist are available just off the Main Square. Check our accessibility page for full details.
- Manual wheelchairs and mobility scooters are available for hire. Visit the accessibility page for full details.
Longleat House

- Pushchairs, backpack-style infant carriers, sharp-heeled shoes, and food and drink are not permitted in Longleat House.
- Photography and videography are encouraged inside the House but we do not allow flash, selfie sticks or tripods. If you would like to make a commercial or media request for filming, please visit our filming and location hire page.
Grounds and Gardens
- Longleat has lakes and water features in its grounds and formal gardens. Please observe all safety notices, supervise children and vulnerable people, and do not stray into cordoned off areas.
- For the health of our ancient trees, and your own safety, please do not sit or picnic under trees.
- Under no circumstances should anything be picked or eaten from the grounds or gardens.
- The use of barbecues within Longleat Estate is strictly prohibited.
- Drone usage is not permitted at Longleat. If you would like to make a commercial or media request for filming, please visit our filming and location hire page.
- The use of scooters and hoverboards is prohibited throughout the Longleat Estate.
Eating and drinking
For those with special dietary requirements, full allergen information lists are available in all of our restaurants and cafés. Feel free to ask a member of staff if you would like to see one of these.

Drive-Through Safari
- Enjoy the Drive-Through Safari during your visit to Longleat. Full guidance and further details about the experience can be found on our Drive-Through Safari page.
- If you don’t have a suitable vehicle, or would rather not drive the Safari yourself, we offer a Safari Bus service. For a small fee, enjoy the Drive-Through from the comfort of our luxury double-decker, air-conditioned bus with Wi-Fi and expert commentary. Spaces are limited and sold on a first-come-first-served basis at Guest Services.
Boat Safari
- Spot the residents of Half Mile Pond on the Boat Safari, including colobus monkeys, western lowland gorillas and our pod of hippos.
- Sea lion feeding is available during the Boat Safari for a small additional cost and is available on a first-come-first-served basis.

Other important information
Longleat is in the countryside and you will have close contact with animals and nature. Please wash your hands before and after handling animals and eating food and make sure that your children and any other members of your party do so too.
We have several members of staff who are trained in first aid although they are only equipped to treat minor injuries. Please ask a member of staff to direct you to the nearest first aider.
There is a room with a bed available at the Adventure Castle.
In the event that a child or other vulnerable person becomes separated from your party please make your way to Guest Services to report the matter.
Please park in designated areas. If parking on the grass, do not park under the trees.
We offer designated areas for accessible parking. Bays can be found in Lime Tree Car Park, however most of the accessible bays are in Silver Birch Car Park.
Electric Vehicle Charging Points are available. Located in Silver Birch Car Park, we charge 0.70p per kWh, uses 7.4 kW chargers and we accept contactless payment only. We ask that you provide your own charging cable.
If you use our car parks, you do so at your own risk. Longleat is not able to accept any responsibility for damage, accidents or losses.
Smoking or vaping are not permitted on site, except in the designated areas at the African Village and adjacent to The Chameleon Tree Coffee House.
We respectfully ask that guests don’t remove their tops while at Longleat.
Photography and filming may occur at events for use on our website and/or promotional material. Please be aware by entering the site, you are giving consent to the use of your image or voice, waiving any right to inspect or approve the photo, video or audio recording of you or any claims for invasion of privacy or for any fees.
We want you to take as many photos and shoot as much video as you like while visiting Longleat. However, there are restrictions to ensure we are all kept safe.
The House and its contents are historically significant and therefore no flash may be used when taking pictures. Our guides will advise if any images cannot be taken due to licensing requirements.
The use of tripods in the House is prohibited without permission.
The use of drones is not permitted by visitors under any circumstances due to the potential risk to the historic site, our animals and to people.
Photographs must be for personal use only; personal use permission doesn’t include selling or distributing of images in any way for publication either electronically or print.
Filming and photography of staff is possible with their consent, please ask first.
Private use
We welcome non-commercial photography and filming by visitors. Visitors are encouraged to share their images on social media and to tag Longleat and its event pages and profiles as appropriate.
Usual conditions of entry apply but the photographer has the additional responsibility of gaining the permission of any person captured in an image/film and in the case of an under 18 the permission of the parent/guardian.
Commercial use
Filming or photography for commercial use is permitted providing there has been liaison with Longleat in advance, fees have been agreed and the relevant paperwork including public liability insurance is in place. Media/Editorial photographers
Where possible, we are happy to accommodate pre-arranged visits via our Communications Team for editorial purposes. Please contact press@longleat.co.uk. We aim to be responsive to requests for information and access but sometimes we are regretfully unable to support due to other commitments on site. The photographer has the additional responsibility of gaining the permission of any person captured in an image/film unless a spokesperson is put forward by Longleat and in the case of an under 18 the permission of the parent/guardian.
Influencers
Any influencer who wishes to create paid for or gifted content on social media must request access via press@longleat.co.uk. We love working with creators who align with our values so look forward to hearing from you, however, due to the volume of enquiries we receive, we cannot guarantee your request will be successful.

Dogs and/or pets of any sort are not allowed on Longleat grounds, except within our kennelling facilities. This includes the following areas: Longleat House and associated courtyards, the formal grounds and car parks, and the Longleat Safari Park animal areas and attractions (specific restrictions apply to service animals).

Complimentary kennelling facilities are available but are subject to availability. Dogs are not supervised whilst in the kennels and are left at your own risk.

The kennels are basic so we are happy for you to bring a blanket or something that reminds them of home.

Assistance dogs are welcome everywhere at Longleat excluding the Safari Park, Boat Safari and Walking Safari areas. Assistance dogs need to be checked-in at Guest Services upon arrival. Please clean up after your dog.

Visitors are not permitted to bring any other domestic animals onto the Longleat Estate.
