Student conference is back!
12 February 2025

Longleat is to repeat a Wildlife Conservation Student Conference aimed at those studying biology after the first sold out within days.
Aimed at key stage 4 and 5 students, topics include biodiversity, genetic diversity in isolated populations and management of environmental resources and the effect of people.
Caramantha Wellstead, Head of Education says “We’ve had the pleasure of hosting several Wildlife Conservation Student Conferences and we always get such fantastic feedback from the students and teachers alike.
“As there was such demand for 2024’s October conference, we’re delighted to have been able to secure the same speakers for a second time so that those who missed out can spend the day with us.”
Taking place on Friday 28 March, talks will be by Longleat’s keepers and specialists, exploring the role of zoos and safari parks and how they contribute to conservation, a focus on coordinated breeding programmes and various case studies.
After the talks, students and teachers have access to Longleat’s many attractions, including the newly opened Bat Cave and the chance to see many of the animals mentioned throughout the day.
Caramantha said: “Feedback previously has included words and phrases such as ‘inspiring stories’, ‘staff clearly enthusiastic and knowledgeable’, ‘really engaging with interactivity’ and ‘well pitched for the target group’ so we are confident that students will really benefit from the day.”
The price of the conference is £14.95 per student this includes: specialist presentations, refreshments, student notes to take away and entry to Longleat attractions and areas that are open. One teacher/lecturer is admitted free of charge for every six students. Additional adults are charged at £34.35.
