Tiger cubs first snow day
10 January 2025

Our rare amur tiger cubs were among the animals enjoying a snow day.
After days of frost and flurries, on Thursday, the cubs ventured out into fresh snow for the first time, whilst big sister Yuki played in a neighbouring paddock.
The cubs, who were born in May last year, explored Tiger Territory in Longleat’s Drive-Through Safari as it was completely transformed by the snow, creating a new environment for them to experience.
“Part of the role of a keeper is introducing our animals to new experiences, and with snow being so rare in Wiltshire, it’s fascinating to see various animals’ reaction to it. When it comes to the cubs and other young animals across the park, it is their first time experiencing the snow and the low temperatures.” Said Ian Turner, Senior Keeper.
Yuki, who was also born to Yana and Red in July 2019, also enjoyed playtime in the snow, as she’s seen rolling and lounging in the winter weather.
