Wednesday Takes Flight at Longleat

9 September 2025

Wednesday Addams is planning to take its first public flight at Longleat.

The iconic Wednesday balloon is making her final stop at our Icons of the Sky event, taking place this weekend, 12 – 14 September.

Complete with signature Wednesday plaits, the balloon wowed crowds while tethering at Bristol International Balloon Fiesta last month, to mark the return of Netflix’s Wednesday for Season Two. Now, with part two of the series live on the streaming platform, the balloon will be taking flight throughout the three-day event.

Scott Ashman, Head of Operations at Longleat, said “Since we announced the full line-up of the event, people have been asking if they’ll get the chance to see the popular Wednesday balloon once again, as it was such a hit with guests at Bristol. We’re pleased that Wednesday will be joining us for all three days of the event.”

Another newcomer to the line-up is Astro the Alien, a popular sight amongst balloon spotters. Astro will also be taking part in all three days of the event.

Guests at Icons of the Sky will have the opportunity to see two mass hot air balloon ascents subject to weather conditions, tethering displays, a two-and-a-half-hour air display with a variety of aircraft, as well as an evening pyrotechnic flight, iconic night glow and firework finale each day.

“Icons of the Sky is included in Day Tickets, enabling guests to enjoy all our usual offerings, such as embarking on the Drive-Through Safari, enjoying the boat safari and railway as well as our other attractions. It means that if the weather means we can’t fly, there will still be plenty for guests to do on site and enjoy their days.” Scott said.

Each day, from 2pm to 8pm, the road from Longleat’s main entrance to Horningsham will be closed to ensure safe flight operations for the performing aircraft. This includes Heaven’s Gate.

Access will be available for emergency services and essential events drivers. Diversions will be in place via either Shearwater or East Woodlands, with signage in place. Access to Centre Parcs Longleat Forest and Longleat Main entrance, will be available from Picket Post roundabout.
