Conservation Education

In October 2022, we began our schools Acorn Project.  We are working with the two primary schools based closest to Longleat to give their reception and year six pupils the chance to grow and plant trees.  The activities included thinking about what they already knew, sessions with the forestry team, acorn collecting and planting. The reception children will be invited back with the saplings they have grown, to plant them on the Estate when they reach year six.  

Through this project we want to help the children know how trees grow and to understand the importance of trees for people, wildlife and the environment. We feel it is important for each child to have the opportunity to plant a tree allowing them to have made a positive impact on the planet and creating a living legacy for themselves and others.  

This year the new reception children will come to collect their acorns to grow and year six children will have the chance to plant trees.
