Linne's Two-toed Sloth

Choloepus didactylus

Slow and steady

The world's slowest mammal made its long-overdue debut at Longleat in June 2022 when Truffles, our female Linne's two-toed sloth, moved in. She's since been joined by Chico, and you can catch up with them hanging in the Bat Cave.

Hanging around

A sloth's internal organs, including the heart, spleen, and liver, are all specially arranged to accommodate their upside-down lifestyle. It's the ultimate adaptation for a life spent hanging from branches.

Did you know?

Sloths have grooved fur that allows algae to grow through it, giving them natural camouflage and a tasty snack.
