With a nudge from mum, Yana, one of the four Amur tiger cubs takes a dip in the pond while another studies her reflection in the water in these images captured by keeper Ian Turner.

The rare cubs were born in May  and are exploring Tiger Territory in short bursts as mum Yana and keepers introduce them slowly to the area.

Amy Waller, Team Manager Safari, said: “Tigers have a natural affinity to water, keeping cool, cleaning, entertaining themselves and of course sometimes using it to support hunting.

“The cubs really are growing in confidence but need mum from time to time to nudge them in the right direction. She also decides when it’s time to go back indoors; they aren’t yet ready to be in the drive-through Safari on a regular basis, but guests can see them when they are in their paddock which continues to be for a few hours daily.”

A public poll to name the cubs has now closed and keepers will be announcing the names next week.
