Longleat over the years
10 October 2024

The documentary-makers behind the hit festive Channel 5 programme, Christmas at Longleat, are back and are looking for help from guests to the attraction.
The team, which has also worked on numerous hit shows, including Doctor Who Unleashed, is working on a three-part series for Channel 5 celebrating 75 years since Longleat opened to the public, which is due to be broadcast next year.
Jo Pearce, Creative Director at Bright Branch Media, which is producing the programme, said: "We're especially looking for footage from the 1950s, 60s,70s and 80s; we want to capture the mood of the time, and sometimes, there is no better way of doing that than with home video or photographs.
"We know people travelled from far and wide when the late 6th Marquess of Bath opened the doors to Longleat for the first time in 1949 and they continue to do so today as his grandson, the 8th Marquess builds on that legacy for future generations
"This series focuses on the people who bring this wonderful estate to life through captivating events, caring for animals and more. We're here to tell their story and would love to highlight your precious moments of visiting over the years. We're telling the story of Longleat's unique heritage stretching back 450 years from Royalty to wartime, schools and generations of families living, working and falling in love on the estate; there's something for everyone. We hope this appeal will enable the series to showcase the memories of people who have visited the estate over the decades as well as featuring the stories of the individuals and teams that make Longleat what it is today."
