Ring Tailed Lemur

Lemur catta

Our lemur legacy

Longleat’s ring-tailed lemurs thrive in the African Village walk-through, where visitors can step right into their world. Twins Ronnie and Corbett were born here and live with their mother, Hasina, and siblings in a lively “conspiracy” of lemurs. With rope swings and wooden walkways, the group showcases its natural agility and playful foraging behaviour.

Sunbathing lemurs

Ring-tailed lemurs often gather in open areas of the forest to warm up in the sun. Sitting in a “yoga position” with bellies to the sky and arms outstretched, they soak up the heat before heading off to forage.

Did you know?

When travelling, ring-tailed lemurs keep their tails raised like flags so the whole troop can stay together.
