Home Educators
We understand that the support home educators need can differ to that of teachers and lecturers. This area is designed to highlight information you may need in one place but may direct you to the general education pages for content applicable to all education visits. Following the focus groups we ran for home educators, we now run Home Education Focus Days three times a year. These are constantly evolving as we try new ideas to see what works well. Your feedback is always appreciated.
Home Education Focus Days
We are pleased to share dates for our Home Education Focus days for 2025. On these days individual home educating families are offered the same price as the educational groups. In addition to the attractions available to all, on these days we provide additional optional activities that you can engage with based on different themes.

Learning Resources
We have a number of resources that are available that you can use at home such as recorded keeper Q&A sessions and video clips. We would also recommend the Longleat YouTube channel which is regularly updated with new videos. A lot of the content is animal based but you will also find videos related to the House and wider Estate.
If you are looking for information about our conservation work then the conservation area of our website may be useful for older students.
We have activity packs that contain ideas for before, during and after a visit to us. Many of these have been designed to support teaching of the national curriculum and specify particular key stages that they are suitable for. You may need to pick activities from a number of these to match your topic, focus or children’s ability.

Education Group rates apply on weekdays in term time and are available to groups of home educators as well as schools. Group size must be 12 or more.

- One free adult for every three paying 3-4 year olds
- One free adult for every six paying 5+ year olds

Please note these prices also apply for home educating families with no minimum group size on home education focus days
To book a home education group visit (minimum 12)
We will email you a booking confirmation invoice letter with a unique booking reference number which you will need to quote on the gate on the day to gain entry.
Please note if you book with less than 2 weeks notice we may not be able to accommodate your booking. Once a booking is made, numbers and details can be amended at any time in the run up to your trip, prior to making your payment, after which no changes can be made.

There are two payment options: we are happy to take a credit/debit card payment over the telephone - 01985 844400 and choose option 6 or BACs payments through our finance team, remittances sent must include our Booking reference to allow payment allocations. Payment details are outlined on your invoice. Payment is required at least 14 working days in advance of your visit.
